RE:  PCOHACAC-Calvary Arts Center update

The PCOHACAC held their annual meeting on Oct. 28th and welcomed two new officers/board members:  Holly Mathias will be the new Vice President of Programming and Fundraising and Shirley Thompson will serve as secretary. Former president, Chelsie Schulteis will now serve as Vice President of Business & Financial Operations.  They also voted to change their nonprofit  501(c)3 name to the Perry County Calvary Arts Center as they hope to purchase the building in the spring.  According to Betsy Martin, new president, “This will hopefully dissolve the confusion between the commissioner’s opera house restoration  project at the old municipal building and us. Our goal is to continue to provide cultural events for the community and now we have a beautiful handicap accessible building in which to do programming.” The building has a great basement that can seat 80 people with a kitchen which is available to the public for rent.  The upstairs church area is also available for rent for weddings, etc.

Upcoming programming  includes the start of our fall/winter lessons.  NLHS Band Director, Taylor Langreder will teach half hour piano lessons on Mondays starting at 4:00 PM.  Paola Semprini will offer vocal lessons on Tuesdays starting at 4:00 PM.  Lessons are 45 minutes and can be individual and/or groups.  Mike Boley will be teaching guitar on Wednesdays starting at 5:00 PM.  All lessons will begin the week of Nov. 16th and space is limited.  To sign-up contact Betsy Martin at 740-342-4312.

Don’t forget to come and see the “free” public performance of “A Christmas Music Spectacular” under the direction of Paola Semprini and pianist Bruce Boyer.  This will be at 7:00 PM after the parade during the Christmas Walk on Dec. 4th.

On Sunday, Dec. 13th, Holly Mathias will be having a Christmas Craft workshop for children from 1-3 PM in the basement.  This is free.

A Chinese Auction complete with entertainment is planned in January TBA as a fundraiser.

If you have an artist in mind or are an artist who would like to feature your work, we would love to have you.
